What are the working principles of metering pumps?


A metering pump is a special volumetric pump commonly used in the industrial field to transport liquids, especially corrosive liquids. It is a type of fluid conveying machinery that has characteristics such as non leakage, high safety performance, and stable operation. So, what is its working principle?

The prominent feature of the metering pump is that it can maintain a constant flow rate independent of the discharge pressure. It can simultaneously complete the functions of conveying, measuring, and regulating, thereby simplifying the production process. By using multiple metering pumps, several media can be accurately proportioned into the process flow for mixing. Due to its outstanding advantages, it has been widely used in various industrial fields such as petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and food.

Working principle of metering pump: The motor drives the worm through a coupling and decelerates the main shaft and eccentric wheel through the worm gear, causing them to rotate. The eccentric wheel drives the sliding adjustment seat of the bow connecting rod to perform reciprocating motion. When the plunger moves back to the dead center, a vacuum gradually forms in the pump chamber of the metering pump, the suction valve opens, and the liquid is sucked in; When the plunger moves forward towards the dead center, the suction valve closes, the discharge valve opens, and the liquid is discharged as the plunger moves further. The reciprocating cycle of the pump forms a continuous and quantitative discharge of liquid under pressure.

When using a metering pump for liquid transportation, the dosage range, pressure range, control method, etc. can be selected, which can better complete the transportation work and achieve the use effect.
